Convert Care

Benevolence Australia's Convert Care program caters for the needs of new Muslims, Muslims reconnecting with their faith, and anyone interested in learning more about the Islamic faith in a safe, friendly and non-judgmental environment.


Classes and Workshops


Throughout the year, the Convert Care program offers a variety of classes, workshops and event on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.

These offer ongoing support and guidance to help converts on their journey, as well as additional seminars for the involvement and participation partners and family members.




How to Pray


Introduction to Islam


A monthly forum on important topics relevant to the Muslim community in a friendly, non-judgmental atmosphere. Held on the first Saturday evening of each month, these discussions are open for everyone to attend.


A one day workshop on how to pray exploring in detail the spiritual and physical aspects of prayer, as well as how to get the most out of your prayer.


A series of three workshops presenting the holistic framework of Islam and what it means to be a Muslim. Suitable for those interested in Islam, those wanting to understand the process of becoming Muslim, and for those wanting to implement Islam more fully into their lives.

Prepare for Ramadan


Understanding Islam


An ongoing weekly class based on books written by traditional Islamic scholars aimed to inspire, motivate and reconnect with one's spiritual journey to God.


A half day workshop prior to the month of fasting covering the fundamentals relating to fasting, as well as the spiritual dimensions of this blessed month.


A two hour introductory seminar on Islam, perfect for those just wanting a bit more information about what Muslims believe and practice.

Counselling & Support




The transition into a new faith can often be confusing, and it may help to talk to people who have experienced a similar journey.

The Benevolence team provides flexible drop in times for anyone who wants to chat, ask questions or is seeking general advice.

Benevolence also offers spiritual and general counselling services.


Benevolence runs a mentoring program that provides a personalised support program for new converts by matching them to an experienced member of the community as a support person.

Resources and Library


Spiritual Development


We have a small library at Benevolence House with a selection of useful books and resources for converts and reconnecting Muslims.

Please drop in and browse our books and resources, which are available for purchase or borrowing.

Convert Catch Ups


Convert Community Facebook Group


The Convert Catch Ups is a quarterly event specifically for converts and mentors. It is an opportunity for converts to meet their mentors and to socialise with other converts, and welcomes their family and friends, regardless of religious background.


This group has been set up with converts in mind to keep you better connected and informed about all the events coming up this year at Benevolence Australia. It will also be a space to share relevant articles and media and other events of interest happening in and around Melbourne.
