Benevolence believes in a well-rounded curriculum based on the Islamic legal, intellectual and spiritual tradition, as derived from the Qur'an and the words and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Benevolence also encourages a curriculum based on history, literature, philosophy, sociology and other disciplines.
Our Monday Night Women's Classes are facilitated by Sister Saara Sabbagh and take place during school terms. Guest speakers are also invited and a Mawlid is held during each semester.
These classes are based on books written by traditional Islamic scholars.
Our 2017 classes will be on the topic of Knowing God through His Divine Attributes - a class that aims to nourish the soul, challenge the intellect and awaken the heart.
Some of the books discussed in the past include:
- Purification of the Heart by Sheikh Hamza Yusuf
- The Book of Assistance by Imam Al-Haddad
- Refinement of the Hearts by Imam Ibn Juzayy al-Kalbi (based on the translations & commentary by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf)
