Safar is the second month of the Islamic calendar.
  • Pre-Islam, Arabs superstitiously regarded this month as cursed and a bad omen. However, the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) negated this practice, clarifying that there was no basis in this belief as only Allah can cause benefit and harm; a specific month or time cannot be regarded as being evil.   • The beloved daughter of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Fatima Zahra (RA) and the 4th Caliph, Ali Ibn Abi Talib (RA) were wed in this month.
