    Peace and blessings,

As we enter the new Islamic year we are reminded of the significance of this time in history when the Islamic calendar was first introduced. A time of migration to a new land, a new community and a place of safety -  essentially it was a time where Muslims could learn and practice their faith in peace, without fear, without prejudice. It was through this opportunity of living in a peaceful land that the teachings of Islam were able to flourish and the beauty of the Prophetic message deeply enshrined itself within the community. It is through the stillness and tranquility of a peaceful space that we are able to reflect upon our greater purpose and thus become vessels and contributors of peace in our own community.

I pray that the new year brings with it peace and blessings to all, especially the oppressed who are not being heard, the weak and vulnerable, the neglected, the poor and needy. I pray we become beacons of light that carry the message of peace to all those we touch.

    Happy New Year!

    Greetings of peace,

Happy Eid to all! I pray that you have had a joyous and festive Eid with family and friends. Thank you to all those that attended our first Eid prayer and community celebration, we were overwhelmed with the positive response. Thank you to all the volunteers that worked tirelessly to ensure that the day was enjoyed by all. It looks like this will become an annual event.

The monthly Benevolence Community Dinner will take place this coming Friday 2nd of November. It will have a special youth focus, so I encourage you all to attend and be part of the discussion. Hope to see you there.

    Peace,

    Greetings of peace,

We have entered the blessed month of Dhul-Hijjah, a sacred time not only for those making the physical pilgrimage but for every soul that intends to make the spiritual pilgrimage back to The Divine. In these blessed days we are encouraged to fast, reawaken the heart through His remembrance and consciously increase our acts of kindness. Let us take advantage of these blessed days so that we reach the celebration of Eidul Adha and enter the new year with rejuvenated hearts and high aspirations.

    Greetings of peace,

Benevolence has always endeavoured to fill a much needed gap in society; aiming to be relevant and of benefit to our community. As we have progressed, one thing we have noticed is that the majority of people who contact us are not after 'religious education' classes or advice on religious matters. Rather, time and time again, we hear that people are searching for a sense of community, a place to belong, to be supported and accepted. That is why, at the heart of all Benevolence initiatives, our goal is creating this sense of community spirit and belonging.

It is with that in mind that we are proud to be announcing our Eid Community Celebration on Friday 26th of October (God willing).

Keep an eye out for event details in the upcoming BeneNews.

    Peace and prayers,

    Greetings of peace,

In these turbulent times it is appropriate that we are reminded of the following words:
"The servants of God Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say 'Peace!'" -Quran.

I pray that we truly understand and thus embody the message that the Prophet (peace be upon him) came with... a message of peace, of love and mercy to all.

    Greetings of Peace,

As Ramadan comes to an end, we pray that God has accepted our fasting, charity and acts of kindness. We also pray that this blessed month has given us an opportunity to reflect upon our faith journey, to create new habits and improve our relationship with one another and ultimately with God.

On behalf of Benevolence I wish you all a joyous Eid filled with celebration, happiness and love.

Greetings of peace upon you all in this blessed month of Ramadan,

As we settle into a routine of fasting, prayers and community iftars, let us remember the many people around the world that are deprived of a meal, to live in peace and the opportunity to worship without fear. Let us remember the abundance of blessings we find ourselves in and show gratitude to The Giver and Provider of all things.

Benevolence would like to invite you to our annual community iftar held this Sunday 29th of July. This event is open to all the community, Muslims and people of other faith backgrounds, men and women, young and old! Please bring a meal to share and join the community spirit.

Benevolence will also be launching a new Quran program for women especially for the month of Ramadan.

Finally if you're unsure where to give your zakat this year and you would like to support a local organisation, please consider supporting our Zakat for Converts program.

    Wishing you a blessed Ramadan,
    Saara Sabbagh

    Greetings of peace,

Benevolence has a very strong Convert Care program which caters not only for new Muslims but also reconnecting Muslims. We believe this service is of vital importance so that converts are not left to navigate through religious doctrine on their own and are supported throughout their faith journey. We are pleased to be announcing the upcoming Convert Care workshops - "Preparing for Ramadan" and "How to perform salat (ritual prayer)".

If you wish to find out more about Convert Care drop us an email at converts@benevolenceaustralia.org.
